Menta have been appointed to manage the delivery of the Cherokee Cranleigh site
in Surrey, 30 miles south of London.
Cherokee Cranleigh Limited acquired the property in 2001 and developed a comprehensive
remediation plan to address the contamination issues and prepare the site for
redevelopment. Cleanup will include removal of approximately 100,000 cubic meters
of contaminated soil on the 12-acre parcel.
A 12-acre portion of the 44 acre site has a long history of chemical manufacturing,
munitions storage and brick production resulting in zinc, cadmium, lead and copper
contaminants in the soil and surface water run-off.
The UK Environmental Agency has designated the property as a “Special
Site” requiring near-term remediation to prevent continued ground
and surface water contamination.
